I graduated from Virginia Military Institute with a B.A. in Economics and Business in 1980. Post-graduation, I spent 13 years in corporate America in the field of Human Resources, where I worked for Burlington Industries, Duracell, and Becton Dickinson in positions of increasing responsibility. During that time, I earned an MBA from Winthrop University. I also served in the United States Army Reserve with the 108th Training Group for eight years after completing the Infantry Officers School in 1980. I left the corporate world to pursue my dream profession in the investment industry, becoming a Financial Advisor in 1994, and never looked back.
I serve the needs of my clients in 17 states and attained the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™ designation from the College for Financial Planning in 2002. In 2018, I brought my son, Josh, to the business, forming The Glenn Group at Stifel.
Active in the Sumter community, I have served as a past board member of the United Way and the Sumter chamber of commerce, past committee chair for Red Carpet Breakfast, past president of the Sumter Rotary Club and the Tuomey Hospital Foundation, and past board director for the Tuomey Hospital. I have also served on the board of governors for the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Keydet Club, and I am currently a member of the Sumter Touchdown Club and the Sumter chamber of commerce. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sumter, I have served as a Deacon and an Elder.
I married my high school sweetheart, Robin, in May 1981. She understands the trials, tribulations, and rewards of the VMI experience and the bonds that were formed by our BRs (brother rats) all those years ago. We are blessed with three adult children and three grandchildren.

I began my investment industry career in 2018 upon teaming up with my father to form The Glenn Group.
Prior to becoming a financial advisor, I served as an insurance agent for State Farm from 2014 to 2018. After assisting numerous individuals and families of various backgrounds, I realized my experience would be best served within the investment services industry. Today, I develop customized wealth management and investment strategies designed to not only help my clients avoid financial hardship, but also to live and retire with the life they've always wanted.
Having earned both the Accredited Asset Management Specialist® (AAMS®) designation and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification, I have attained strong fundamental financial knowledge surrounding asset management and investments and have received in-depth training on insurance reviews, tax strategies, as well as estate planning issues and retirement planning strategies. CFP® certificants also agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold CFP® Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Rules of Conduct, and Financial Planning Practice Standards. Additionally, I earned a B.S. in Economics from Clemson University and hold Series 7 and 66 securities licenses, as well as life, health, and variable insurance licenses (including annuities).
Active in my community, I am a member of the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, Touchdown Club, and the Young Professionals of Sumter, where I currently serve as a board member. Additionally, I serve as a mentor to students in the business program at Clemson through the TigerTies mentorship program.
